All the Mess
It is a criminal offence to drop litter or to throw it from a car and anyone dropping litter in a public place can be prosecuted.
There is a potential £75 instant penalty for littering and issue fixed penalty notices to people caught dropping litter. The penalties are handed out by City Centre Ambassadors in Sheffield, Environmental Enforcement Officers and other Council staff. If people do not pay the fine they can be taken to Court.
Allowing a dog to foul a public space can also result in a fixed penalty notice.
Businesses have a “Duty of Care” to make sure they deal with any rubbish they generate
properly. They should not be allowing waste to escape from their premises and where problems are caused by business activity, Environmental Enforcement Officers to enforce these rules. It all so Simple just to put it in a Bin.
